An employee who is a member of the National Guard, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Marine Reserve shall be entitled to military leave for military training. Merit and appointed employees are eligible for paid military leave in accordance with the terms of this section. Employees who are called for military training and who are not eligible for military leave are entitled to leave without pay as required by federal law and in accordance with Article
XX, Unpaid Leave of Absence, of this Division A. Approved military leave shall be paid at the regular rate of pay for up to 15 calendar days per year. Any employee required to report for military service must give his or her supervisor as much advance notice as possible.
Merit and appointed employees are eligible for court appearance leave in accordance with the terms of this section. Employees not eligible for court appearance leave may be entitled to an unpaid leave of absence under Article
XX, Unpaid Leave of Absence, of this Division A. An employee summonsed to appear in court as a witness shall be excused from duty without loss of pay and without charge against leave, except that this leave provision is not extended to an employee initiating or defending against legal action. Any employee summonsed to appear in court as a witness must notify his or her supervisor in advance.
Merit and appointed employees are eligible for jury leave in
accordance with the terms of this section. An eligible employee who
serves as a member of any jury shall be permitted to be absent from
work without loss of pay and without charge against leave. Jurors
may retain compensation received for jury service. Any employee called
for jury service must present his or her orders to his or her supervisor
upon receipt. Any time during the period of jury service at which
it is determined that the employee's service is not required
as a jury member, or upon completion of service for the day, the employee
shall immediately report to his or her supervisor for duty.
