The Mayor shall designate the Public Works Administrator, or
such other designee, to control burning and work with the duly authorized
State Fire Marshal for Calvert County.
There shall be no fires, including open fires or fires contained
in hibachis, grills or similar devices (for cooking or any other purpose),
on any public property within the Town limits of Chesapeake Beach.
A permit for burning may be issued by the Public Works Administrator
for special events, such as public bonfires, public cookouts, Fire
Department training, and controlled municipal burning. The conditions
for burning under a special permit will be set by the Public Works
Administrator after reviewing the burn site and any other information
deemed necessary. A special burning permit must be applied for at
least 30 days prior to the event.
The discharge or firing of firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, Roman candles, or other explosive fireworks, or the selling of any such fireworks within the Town, is hereby prohibited, except by special permit which will be limited as stated above in §
140-4.
It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly give a false
alarm or remove, damage or tamper with any fire apparatus or equipment
belonging to the Town or the Fire Department of the Town from its
proper place except in the case of fire or other public necessity.
Every person, persons or corporations engaged in conducting
a hotel, boardinghouse, rooming house, restaurant or other business
and the owner of every building within the Town where inflammable
oil or other explosives are stored are required to keep and maintain
on the premises a suitable fire extinguisher.
All public garages and repair shops within the Town shall be
fireproof. All private garages or other storerooms under any building
used for human habitation, where any motor or engine propelled by
gasoline, coal oil, or other combustible material is kept, shall be
fireproof.
