No person shall ride or operate a bicycle customarily kept within
the Village on any street, alley or roadway unless such bicycle has
been registered and an identification sticker attached to the bicycle
as herein provided.
Application for a bicycle registration sticker shall be made
on a form provided by the Police Department. This application shall
constitute the registration of such bicycle. If any person acquires
any registered or unregistered bicycle, he shall immediately register
such bicycle with the Police Department, except that a person who
acquires a bicycle from a member of the immediate family need not
reregister.
The Police Department shall furnish to each registrant an identification
sticker serially numbered to correspond with the registration number.
Such sticker shall be affixed to the bicycle and remain so affixed
until removed for replacement with another sticker upon reregistration.
The registration fee for each bicycle shall be as set by the
Village Board for the period the bicycle is owned by the registered
owner or a member of the immediate family.
Every person propelling or riding a bicycle upon a public roadway
shall be subject to the provisions of all Village ordinances and state
laws applicable to the operator of any vehicle, except those provisions
which, by their nature, would have no application.
Except as otherwise specifically provided in this chapter, any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter or any order, rule or regulation made hereunder shall be subject to a penalty as provided in §
1-4 of this Code.
