Any person who proposes to construct or modify a curb cut or
sidewalk within a public way shall apply for a driveway permit and
submit a plan of said work to the City Engineer for approval. A minimum
of three working days shall be required for review and approval prior
to commencing the work. The applicant constructing, reconstructing
or resurfacing a driveway which joins a public way is required to
secure grade levels from available sources, such as the City of Gardner's
Survey Department, to be incorporated into the plan before proceeding
to construct, reconstruct or resurface the driveway. The required
driveway permit plan shall consist of:
A. Driveway length and width and existing structures (house or apartment).
B. Existing and finished grades of proposed driveway.
C. Existing and finished grades of street within 100 feet on each side
of entrance of driveway.
D. Existing or proposed drainage structures/features within 100 feet
of driveway.
E. Scale of the plan and North arrow.
F. Other significant features of the site.
A fee of $25 for each driveway permit shall be paid to the City
Engineer made out to the City of Gardner at time of filing application.
Any person who constructs/reconstructs a driveway which is not
at grade level prescribed by the City Engineer or who constructs or
modifies a curb cut which is not in accordance with a plan approved
by the City Engineer shall be subject to a fine of $50. In addition,
said driveway, curb cuts, or sidewalk shall be reconstructed.
