The Town of Webb hereby extends the provisions and benefits
of Public Officers Law § 18 to the officers and employees
of the Town of Webb and further agrees to be responsible for the costs
incurred pursuant to such provisions.
The Town of Webb empowers the Town Board of the Town of Webb,
in its discretion, to approve provision for defense of criminal actions
brought against a Town officer or employee when such Town officer
or employee is alleged to have committed a criminal act during the
course of his public employment, provided that prior approval for
provision of said defense is granted by the Town Board.

The Town of Webb shall provide and be responsible for the defense
of any civil action or proceeding brought against a duly appointed
police officer of the Town of Webb for a negligent act or other tort
of such police officer committed while in the proper discharge of
his duties and within the scope of his employment.
The Town of Webb shall indemnify and save harmless any duly
appointed police officer of the Town of Webb from any judgment for
punitive or exemplary damages arising out of a negligent act or other
tort of such police officer committed while within the proper discharge
of his duties within the scope of his employment.
