Wherever the following words and expressions are used in these specifications and regulations, they shall have the meaning as defined below.
The written approval, issued by the Highway Superintendent, stating that all requirements both for construction and performance have been complied with.
Shall be defined to mean an unbroken length of surface running from and including its nearest intersecting street.
The division of any parcel of land into two or more lots, plots, sites or other divisions of land for immediate or future sale or for building development in such a way as to create one or more new roads or streets or new extensions to existing roads or streets.
The roads or streets created from the subdivision of land into lots, plots, etc.
The whole strip of land for the use of the traveling public bounded by the property lines on either or both sides.
Under these specifications the developer or contractor is required to do all work enumerated under the different items of these regulations and specifications.
A length of road shall be defined to mean an unbroken and complete length of regulated surface running from and to and including its intersecting streets, as the case may be.
Any approved material approved by the Highway Superintendent and conforming to the requirements of the specifications.
The existing body of directions, requirements, etc., pertaining to any type of construction or regulation, or any item or material or materials for construction relative to or affecting Town of Hempstead methods and practice.
The bond required by the Planning Board of the Town of Hempstead sufficient to cover the full cost of the improvements as mentioned, or as more fully described in Article 16, Section 277, "Approval of plats: additional requisites," of the Town Law, and as required by the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Hempstead or the Town Board for the acceptance of streets into the Town highway system pursuant to Subdivision (c) of Section 280 of the Town Law.
The body of directions, requirements, etc., contained herein, together with all documents of any descriptions and agreements made pertaining to the methods and manner of performing the work mentioned.
A highway, road or street sign for a particular purpose and place, when and where directed.
All roads, streets, highways, lanes or rights-of-way within the Town of Hempstead (outside of incorporated villages) maintained by the Town Highway Superintendent.
An official drawing or plan pertaining to the work and methods relative to roads, highways or streets.
Shall be defined to mean the distance as measured from property line to property line within which shall be included the regulation and construction of all appurtenances necessary for a complete regulated road, highway, street or intersection. A road or street shall be inclusive of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, drains and appurtenances, street signs, markers and street trees.
