The International Fire Code, 2018 Edition, as amended, three
copies of which are on file in the offices of the Code Official and
the Township of Upper Southampton, being marked and designated as
the International Fire Code, as published by the International Code
Council, is hereby adopted as the code of the Township of Upper Southampton
for regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property
from fire and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling,
and use of hazardous substances, materials, and devices, and from
conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings
and premises in the Township of Upper Southampton and providing for
the issuance of permits for hazardous uses or operations; and each
and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions, and terms of such
International Fire Code, 2018 Edition, published by the International
Code Council on file in the office of the Code Official, are hereby
referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set forth
in this chapter.

Portions of the said International Fire Code requires certain
information to be provided, which is unique to individual municipalities,
Accordingly, the following information is provided to complete the
Code:
A. Section 101.1: insert "Township of Upper Southampton."
B. Section 110.4: insert "Summary offense," "$1,000," "90 days."
C. Section 112.4: insert "$500," "$1,000" in two locations.
D. Section 1103.5.3: insert "PA UCC Regulated."

A listed and labeled smoke and/or heat detection system, which
shall be approved by the Code Enforcement Officer, shall be installed
and maintained to protect every room of the entire premises in all
places of public assembly, including, inter alia, restaurants, bowling
lanes, shopping malls, shopping centers, including merchandising marts,
indoor places of amusement, including sport arenas or rinks, clubs,
lodges or fraternal organizations, YMCAs or similar occupancies, lumber
yards and builder's supply, and all other office, commercial or industrial
property and associated occupancies within the same structure, having
a total floor area greater than 200 square feet and for which an occupancy
permit is required. All detectors in the system shall be interlocked
and coupled to means for producing an alarm of at least 85 dbA throughout
the entire premises. The provisions of this section shall not apply
to those structures encompassed by this section which are protected
throughout by a sprinkler system approved by the Code Enforcement
Officer.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Nothing in this chapter or in the Property Maintenance Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited in §
96-4 of this chapter; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this chapter.
