The position of Township Manager (hereinafter referred to as
"Manager") is hereby created for Straban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania
("the Township"). The position of Manager may be filled at the option
and discretion of the Board of Supervisors (hereinafter referred to
as "Board") and may be appointed for an indefinite term on a part-time
or full-time basis by a majority of all the members of the Board of
Supervisors. The Manager, if appointed, shall serve at the pleasure
of the Board and may be removed at any time by a majority vote of
the Board. The compensation of the Manager shall be determined by
the Board of Supervisors from time to time. At least 30 days before
any removal of the Manager becomes effective, the Board shall furnish
the Manager with a written statement setting forth its intention of
removal. The Manager shall be an at-will employee of the Township.
The Township Manager shall give bond to the Township, with sufficient
surety, in the amount directed by the Board of Supervisors, conditioned
for the faithful performance of the duties of the office. The cost
of the bond shall be paid by the Township.
The powers and duties of the Manager shall concern the general
administration of the Township, and under the authority of this article,
such powers and duties shall be specifically prescribed from time
to time by one or more resolutions of the Board.
If the Manager becomes ill or needs to be absent from the Township,
the duties of the Manager shall be performed during his or her absence
by such person as may be designated by the Board and pursuant to such
limitations as may be prescribed by the Board.
