Editor's Note: Ordinance No. 208, adopted 9-1-1911, which authorized the installation and maintenance of the electric fire alarm system, recited in Section 2 thereof that the wires used in the construction and maintenance of a system aforesaid be placed and remain at least 2 1/2 feet above all other wires on the same poles and that no wire be permitted to be placed above or within 2 1/2 feet of the wires of the system; no tree or branch thereof be permitted to overtop or remain above any wire of the system or to be closer than five feet to any wire of the system; and all wires placed or trees planted or continuing to remain contrary to the provisions of this section are hereby declared to be nuisances and shall be removed by or under the direction of the Mayor.

Within 90 days after the publication of this article, all public utility companies placing or maintaining poles on any of the streets, alleys or other public thoroughfares of the Borough shall be required to number each and every pole and give some distinctive mark or designation of ownership, in order that the police inspection thereof may be more conveniently and efficiently done, recorded and reported; and, within the said 90 days, all public utility companies shall file with the Borough Secretary a list of poles according to number, the highway location of such numbers and the distinctive mark which denotes ownership. The said companies shall thereafter maintain the said method of naming, numbering and recording with the Borough Secretary as new poles are placed, changes made and as the marks or numbers become illegible.

From and after the passage of this article, said company shall erect its said poles only at such points or places in the streets and alleys of the said Borough as shall be designated by the Street Committee of the Borough Council, and no poles shall be erected unless the same first be approved by the said Street Committee.
