[HISTORY: Adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Benton as Title 2, Ch. 1, of the Benton Code of Ordinances. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Village of Benton is a body corporate and politic with the powers of a municipality at common law and governed by the provisions of Chs. 61 and 66, Wis. Stats., laws amending those chapters, other acts of the legislature and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin.
The voting polls in the Village of Benton, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, shall be opened from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all elections. The polling place shall be the Benton Village office.

The official Village newspaper shall be the Tri-County Press, to be used for the publication of legal and/or official notices and documents when publication is used instead of posting as allowed by Wisconsin law.
Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes, there is hereby established one set of election officials to conduct all elections in the Village of Benton, and shall consist of not less than one inspector, one ballot clerk and one clerk of election deemed sufficient to handle the vote. However, the Village Clerk-Treasurer shall have the power to limit the number of election officials and to employ election workers in shifts. The Village Clerk-Treasurer shall determine in advance of each general and special election whether the number of election officials for such election should be reduced from the number prescribed by the Wisconsin Statutes and, if such a reduction is so determined, the Village Clerk-Treasurer shall further redistribute duties among remaining officials.
