As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
FIREARM
Includes any rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol or any implement
which impels a pellet or similar object of any kind with force that
can reasonably be expected to cause bodily harm.
SIMILAR IMPLEMENT
Includes, but is not limited to, slingshots, bows and arrows
and any implement used to impel with force any dart or arrow.

A. The use or discharge of any firearm, bow, slingshot or any implement
used to impel with force any dart or arrow on private or public property
or on the roads, streets, avenues, boulevards or alleys of the Borough
is hereby prohibited, except by duly authorized law enforcement officers
in the performance of their duties or by persons in defense of their
property.
B. Except by duly authorized law enforcement officers in the performance
of their duties or by persons in defense of their property, the carrying
of a firearm or similar implement on his person or in a motor vehicle
on the public roads, streets, avenues, alleys or other public areas
of the Borough, unless said firearm or similar implement is not loaded
or is in such a state as to not be prepared for discharge and in a
secure bolster, case or other similar wrapper designed to store or
transport firearms or similar implements in a safe manner, is prohibited.
This chapter shall not apply to:
A. Persons licensed to hunt in this commonwealth while actually engaged
in hunting where permitted under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
B. Members of any organization incorporated under laws of this commonwealth
engaged in target shooting upon the grounds or property belonging
to or under the control of such organization.
C. Any law enforcement officers when used in the discharge of their
official duties.
The operation of a target, skeet, trap or archery range in the
Borough is hereby prohibited except with a permit obtained as follows:
A. The person or organization proposing to operate said range shall
make written application to the Borough for a permit.
B. Upon application, the Borough shall inspect the range or site selected
to determine both the safety of the facilities and the adequacy of
the supervision provided and whether said use is permitted by the
applicable zoning ordinance.
C. Upon completion of the inspection, the Borough may issue a permit
for the use of said range or site.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision
of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay
a fine of not more than $600 plus costs and, in default of payment
of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30
days. This section shall not preclude the Borough of Bellevue from
seeking further relief in law or equity in a court of competent jurisdiction
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
