Certain documents, copies of which are on file in the office of the Chief of the Fire Department in the City of Pittsfield, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, being marked and designated as MGL c. 148; Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code, CMR 527-1, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA1) is hereby adopted as the Fire Prevention Code of the City of Pittsfield, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, for the purpose of safeguarding life and property from the hazards of fire and explosion arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the current MGL c. 148, CMR 527-1 and NFPA 1 are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this article with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes contained in Sec.
7-22 of this article.

(a) Article 1: Section F-102.1. Enforcement authority—Bureau of
Fire Prevention.
There is hereby established a Bureau of Fire Prevention within
the Fire Department of the City. Under the general supervision of
the Chief of the Fire Department, the Bureau shall be responsible
for the administration of the Fire Prevention Code. There shall be
a Chief of Fire Prevention Bureau who shall be appointed by the Chief
of the Fire Department from Fire Department personnel, who shall serve
at the pleasure of the Chief of the Fire Department. The Chief of
the Fire Department may assign such other personnel of the Fire Department
to such Bureau as in his discretion, and for such periods, as he shall
deem necessary.

Annually, in the month of January, the Chief of the Fire Prevention
Bureau shall make a report of the activities of the Bureau to the
Chief of the Fire Department in a manner prescribed by such Chief
of the Fire Department. The Chief of the Fire Department shall include
such report in the records of the Fire Department, and in any other
reports required of the Fire Department by the City.

(b) Article 1: Section F-105.5.2. Saving clause. That nothing in this
ordinance shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding pending
in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any
cause or causes of action acquired, or existing, under any ordinance;
nor shall any existing legal right or remedy of any character be lost,
impaired or affected by this ordinance. The invalidity of any provision
of this ordinance shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
