This article shall be known as the "Traffic Ordinance of 2009."
The purpose of this article is to establish a "slow school zone"
on College Street and to establish stop signs at the intersections
of various public roads and streets within Union Township.
The Township shall incorporate into this article all the definitions
that are provided in the Vehicle Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
(see 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq.).
Stop signs are to be erected at the following intersections
and no person shall drive or operate his vehicle in contravention
of these signs:

It shall be unlawful for any person to remove any of the stop
signs and slow school zone traffic signs within the Township of Union
without the permission of the Board of Supervisors.

A. Any person who shall violate §
265-7 of this chapter relating to speeding in slow school zones shall, upon conviction before a Magisterial District Judge or the Court of Common Pleas in summary proceedings, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 plus an additional fine of $2 for every five miles above the speed limit, pursuant to 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 3365(b) and (d).
B. Any person who shall violate §
265-8 of this chapter relating to stop signs shall, upon conviction before a Magisterial District Judge or the Court of Common Pleas in summary proceedings, be sentenced to pay a fine as set forth in the appropriate sections of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq.).
C. Any person who shall violate §
265-9 of this chapter relating to removal of stop signs and slow school zone traffic signs shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding brought before a Magisterial District Judge under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, be guilty of a summary offense and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs of prosecution. In default of payment thereof, the defendant may be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days.
