A. 
The Police Department shall take possession of any motor vehicle found abandoned in the borough.
B. 
Upon taking possession of an abandoned motor vehicle, the Chief of Police shall cause an immediate report thereof to be made to the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles and the National Automobile Theft Bureau, as provided by N.J.S.A. 39:10A-1 et seq., and if the vehicle's ownership can be determined, the owner shall be notified immediately that the vehicle has been impounded.
C. 
Upon the owner or person entitled to possession of an abandoned motor vehicle reclaiming possession thereof, such owner or other person shall pay costs of removal and storage as established by § 206-64D of this article, together with any fine and court costs incurred in connection with such taking possession, in order to be entitled to recover such motor vehicle.
D. 
If such motor vehicle is not claimed within 20 days by the owner or other person entitled thereto or if the costs of removal and storage and fine and court costs, if any, remain unpaid, the Chief of Police shall cause the motor vehicle to be sold or disposed of in accordance with the procedures established by N.J.S.A. 39:10A-1 et seq., unless the vehicle can be certified for a junk title certificate, in which case it may be sold at auction if not claimed within 15 days.
A. 
The borough garage, situated on Ironia Road in the borough, is hereby established as the exclusive location in the borough for storage or impoundment of any motor vehicle taken into custody under the provisions of § 206-22 or 206-63 of this chapter, N.J.S.A. 39:10A-1 et seq., or under color of any other law.
B. 
The keeping of any abandoned or impounded motor vehicle at any location in the borough, other than the borough pound, is hereby prohibited.
C. 
The Borough Police Chief, Borough Zoning Officer and Borough Administrator are hereby severally authorized to engage the services of any private towing contractor meeting the criteria set forth hereinafter as and when needed to remove vehicles to the borough pound, at a cost calculated according to the schedule of charges set forth in Subsection D below. A contractor providing such service shall be paid by the Borough Treasurer upon delivery of the vehicle to the pound and submission and approval of a standard voucher. No contractor shall be engaged for this service who is not able to respond with necessary removal equipment to the scene of the vehicle abandonment within two hours of being called, regardless of the time of day or night, including weekends and holidays. The response time may be increased to four hours if the abandoned vehicle is a type, size or weight requiring heavy wrecking equipment (that is, equipment other than a standard tow truck or flatbed).
D. 
Reclaiming of vehicle. The owner or other authorized person may reclaim an impounded vehicle at the borough pound between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays, by paying the sum of the fees set forth in Chapter 102, Fees, in cash, money order or certified check.
E. 
Additional charges. Notwithstanding the charges set forth in Subsection D above, the state-mandated charges as set forth in Chapter 102, Fees, shall apply in any case of a private passenger vehicle damaged in an accident or recovered after being reported stolen.
F. 
A copy of this Subsections C through F and any fee schedule approved by resolution of the Borough Council shall be available to the public at the Borough Hall during normal business hours.
