[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton 12-13-1978 by L.L. No. 2-1978. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The purpose of this chapter is to authorize public servants of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York, to issue and serve appearance tickets in connection with the violation of state statutes, local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations of the Town of Cochecton which the public servants are authorized or required to enforce.
The following public servants of the Town of Cochecton are hereby authorized to issue and serve an appearance ticket with respect to violation of a state statute, local law, ordinance, rule or regulation of the Town of Cochecton that such public servants are, respectively, required or authorized to enforce:
A. 
Building Inspector: building, including but not limited to the New York State Building Construction Code, zoning, planning, fire prevention and safety, sewage and health violations, including but not limited to the New York State Sanitary Code, and licensing of occupations or businesses as may be regulated by the Town of Cochecton.
B. 
Constables: parking, public health, safety and welfare, including but not limited to all traffic and motor vehicle offenses.
C. 
Landfill Superintendent: operation and maintenance of the Town of Cochecton landfill.
D. 
Dog Control Officer: dog control law (see Chapter 75, Animals, Article II).[1]

An appearance ticket other than for a parking violation shall be served personally, except that an appearance ticket issued for the violation of a local zoning ordinance or local zoning law, or of a building or sanitation code, may be served in any manner authorized for service under § 308 of the Civil Practice Law and Rules.
