In this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings indicated below:
BATHING BEACH or PUBLIC BATHING BEACH
A public beach regularly used for bathing or swimming.
DOG PARK
A park, or area within a park, designated for use of owners or custodians of dogs where dog owners may be permitted to allow their dog(s) access to such park area without being kept on a leash.
DULY ORGANIZED FISHING CLUB
A club organized pursuant to the laws of the State of New York and having its principal office in the Town of Riverhead, which is organized for the purpose of sport fishing and is comprised primarily of residents of the Town of Riverhead.
LITTER
All waste materials customarily handled and collected by refuse collectors, including garbage, refuse, cans, containers, boxes, cartons, wrappers and rubbish of any nature.
MOTOR VEHICLE
Every vehicle which is self-propelled.
OPERATOR
Any person licensed to operate or drive a motor vehicle.
OWNER
The recorded or registered owner of a motor vehicle.
PARK
A use of land owned, maintained, leased or managed by the Town of Riverhead for open space, passive or active recreation, including, but not limited to, park preserves, memorial sites, walking trails, boardwalks.
PECONIC BAY BEACH
All that area in or adjacent to the Town of Riverhead along the shore of the Peconic Bay lying between the mean high-water mark as a northerly boundary and the low-water mark as the southerly boundary.
PLAYGROUND
A park designated for recreational or athletic use by the Town of Riverhead, County of Suffolk, State of New York or other governmental subdivision and located within the Town of Riverhead.
PUBLIC HIGHWAY
Any road, street, walk, lane, avenue, driveway or any public way.
RECREATION CENTER OR FACILITY
An indoor or outdoor facility, which may involve large amusement areas, rides, playing fields, courts, arenas, stadiums or halls, designed to accommodate sports and recreational activities, and including, by way of example but not by way of limitation, bowling, dancing, ice-skating and roller-skating and outdoor sports, recreational pursuit and athletic competitions generally. This definition shall include gymnasiums, health spas, shooting ranges, docks, boat launches and tennis facilities.

RECREATION TRAIL
An area designated by resolution of the Town Board for use as a walking trail, bicycle path, or hiking trail.

SOUND BEACH
All that area in or adjacent to the Town of Riverhead along the shore of the Long Island Sound lying between the mean high-water mark as a southerly boundary and the low-water mark as the northerly boundary.
TOWN
The Town of Riverhead.
TOWN CLERK
The Town Clerk of the Town of Riverhead.
