There is hereby established a Recreation Committee for the Township
of Eagleswood, which shall consist of seven members and two alternates
to be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Township
Committee.
The Township Committee shall appoint two members for a one-year term,
three members for a two-year term and two members for a three-year
term. Upon the expiration of the initial terms of the appointment,
all reappointments shall be for a term of two years. Any vacancy which
occurs prior to the expiration of the term for that member shall be
filled for the unexpired term only. Alternates are appointed for one-year
terms.[1]
At the first meeting of the Recreation Committee, a Chairperson and
Secretary shall be elected by a majority vote of the Committee members
to serve for terms of one year.
If any member of the Recreation Committee shall fail to attend and
participate at meetings of the Committee for a period of six consecutive
weeks or three consecutive meetings, whichever shall be of longer
duration, without being excused, a vacancy shall occur, provided that
the Recreation Committee shall notify the Township Committee in writing
of said vacancy.
The Recreation Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity, with
responsibility to advise the Township Committee on all matters involving
recreation, including but not limited to social events and other Township
special events. The Recreation Committee shall also advise on other
specific matters, as requested by the Township Committee.
The Recreation Committee is not authorized to expend any funds in
its own name, and expenditures must be approved and authorized by
the Township Committee.
