The provisions of this policy outline hiring practices with
respect to relatives of municipal employees, defines the meaning of
"relative," and provides for restrictions and application of the policy.
For the purpose of this policy, "immediate family member" includes:
spouse, parent, child, stepchild, sibling, mother-in-law, father-in-law,
sister-in-law, brother-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, first cousin,
grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild or the spouse of an employee's
grandchild. "Immediate family" shall also include any other relatives
by marriage or consanguinity ("blood") who reside in the employee's
household.
This policy does not apply to immediate family members who are
already employed by the Municipality of Murrysville, as of the effective
date of this policy. This policy shall be applied, however, to the
potential future hiring, promotion, transfer, assignment or reassignment
of immediate family members of current employees.
