[Adopted 4-2-2013 by Ord. No. 13-04]
A.
Purpose. The purpose of this article is to establish policies and procedures for the collection of fees associated with the performance of marriage or civil union ceremonies by the Mayor or the Council President, if designated by the Mayor to act in his stead.
B.
Collection of fees. Persons seeking to be married or joined in civil union by the Mayor of Pohatcong shall remit a fee, payable to the Township of Pohatcong, in accordance with the following schedule:
(1)

(2)
Nonresidents of Pohatcong: $175.
(3)
Active (and/or retired) military: $30.
A.
Fees collected shall be deposited into the Township's current fund. In consideration of the time, preparation, clothing costs, mileage and related expenses incurred, $30 of the fee shall be payable to the Mayor or Council President that performed the service. To the extent that the salary of the municipality provides a set salary for these positions, this article amends the Salary Ordinance[1] to include and allow for the disbursement of these additional fees, as the performance of ceremonies is discretionary and not a mandated responsibility of the positions.
