A.
There is hereby created the office of Chief of Police. This office shall be filled by a person appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the Board of Aldermen. The person appointed to this office and ratified shall be a qualified Police Officer, twenty-one (21) years of age, but not more than sixty-five (65) years of age, a citizen of the United States, and of good moral character, and must establish residence within twenty (20) minutes response time of the Higginsville Police Department office upon his/her appointment.
B.
The Chief of Police shall administer the duties of the office of Chief of Police according to the municipal ordinances, policies, and procedures adopted. The Chief of Police shall be under the supervision of the City Administrator.
C.
The term of office of the Chief of Police shall be until his/her successor is appointed.
