The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Aldermen, may annually or at such time as may be expedient, appoint a City Physician for said City of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri, who shall be a regularly licensed physician in Jackson County, Missouri; which appointment shall be a matter of record, together with the amount of fees to be paid such physician; provided however, that the Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Aldermen, may appoint a member of the Board to such office of City Physician, provided said person shall be a regularly licensed physician.

The City Physician, if appointed, the Mayor, the City Marshal and the City Clerk shall constitute the Board of Health of the City of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri, the Mayor acting as Chairman of said Board of Health.

The City Clerk shall act as Clerk for said Board of Health and in a book kept for that purpose, there shall be kept a record of all proceedings and orders made by said Board.

The Board of Health shall have supervision over all infectious and contagious diseases and general supervision over all conditions in said City that affect the health of its inhabitants and have full power and authority to regulate and control all such conditions and to cause the removal or destruction of all nuisances that affect or may be liable in any way to affect the health of the inhabitants of the City.

The Board of Health, upon the advice of the City Physician, shall have the right to quarantine any case or cases of infectious or contagious diseases within the limits of said City as conditions may require in the judgment of said Board and they may regulate the extent of said quarantine as may protect the health of the inhabitants of the City.

The Board of Health shall report to the Board of Aldermen from time to time as required by said Board of Aldermen concerning its activities and may recommend to the Board of Aldermen the adoption of regulations and the passage of ordinances for the prevention or the introduction of contagious diseases in the City and the abatement of same and the adoption of quarantine and enforcement thereof within five (5) miles of the City. They may also recommend that the Board of Aldermen exercise its statutory power by ordinance to secure the general health of the inhabitants of the City by measures to regulate, suppress and abate slaughterhouses, slaughtering animals, stockyards, soap and other factories, pig pens, cow stables, and other stables and dairies, and to remove the same and to regulate or prevent the carrying on of any business which may be dangerous or detrimental to the public health, or the manufacturing or rendering of articles obnoxious to the health of the inhabitants; and the passage of ordinances for the prevention of nuisances and their abatement.

If any person, firm or corporation quarantined by the Board of Health violates said quarantine, he/she or it shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor for each and every day that such violation shall continue.
