No permit shall be required under this chapter for the following
electrical work:
A. Repair work where the total costs of any and all electrical improvements
do not exceed the sum of $50.
B. The connection of portable electrical appliances.
C. Equipment installed or work performed by or for a public utility
operating under authority granted by the Public Utility Commission
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
D. Equipment installed or work performed by a railway utility in the
exercise of its function as a utility and located in or on its right-of-way.
E. Equipment used in connection with commercial radio and television
transmission.
All applicants for permits shall, within 30 days of the completion
of any building, structure or premises, obtain from the Code Enforcement
Officer or his designated representative an electrical certificate
of approval. Said certificate shall be issued only after receipt by
the Code Enforcement Officer or his designated representative of an
electrical inspection approval certificate from the approved electrical
organization as selected by the applicant. Failure to secure an electrical
certificate of approval shall be sufficient reason for the Code Enforcement
Officer or his designated representative to notify the Borough to
disconnect or refuse to connect electrical power to the subject building,
structure or premises.
Fees paid for an electrical permit or certificate of approval
shall be established and changed from time to time by resolution of
Council.
