Until such time as the City of Coldwater shall be entitled by law to a different number of representatives upon the Board of Supervisors of the County of Branch, the city shall be entitled to four representatives upon such board. Such representatives of the city upon the Board of Supervisors shall be comprised of the persons designated as and performing the functions of the Assessor, the Mayor, or if he cannot serve regularly in such capacity, a member of the Council designated by the Council, a member of the Council designated by the Council, and the City Auditor.
When, by law, the city is entitled to any additional representative or representatives on such board, the Mayor shall appoint persons who are familiar with the city's business as such representatives, subject to the approval of each such appointment by the Council. Such Supervisors shall be appointed and confirmed during the month of December in even-numbered years, except in the first instance after the city becomes eligible to any such additional Supervisor. Except in such first instance, the term of office of each Supervisor shall be for two years, commencing on and dating from the first day of January following his appointment.
In case of the necessary temporary absence or inability of any city member of the Board of Supervisors, including the Mayor, to serve or perform the duties of his office, the Mayor shall designate another city officer or an elector of the city having the qualifications required by this charter of elective officers to serve in his stead during the period of such absence or inability.
Supervisors shall perform the duties required to be performed by members of the Boards of Supervisors under the general laws of the state.
Each Supervisor shall be entitled to retain any compensation and mileage paid to him by the county as a member of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Branch.
