Section 205.910 Responsibility of Enforcement.

There shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, an Animal Control Officer for the City of Chillicothe. The Animal Control Officer shall be over twenty-one (21) years of age and a resident of the State of Missouri while holding his/her commission.

The Animal Control Officer shall enforce the provisions of this Chapter and also carry out the duties and responsibilities as set out herein.

Except as otherwise provided for in this Chapter, the Chief of Police shall be responsible for the enforcement of this Chapter. The Chief of Police may assign an employee or employees to be responsible for enforcing the provisions of this Chapter.

On complaint of the violations of this Chapter, the Animal Control Officer shall investigate the alleged violation and report to the City Attorney who shall, if the circumstances and facts warrant, institute an action in the Municipal Court.

Section 205.920 Rabies Vaccination.

A licensed veterinarian shall give all adopted animals a rabies vaccination prior to release for adoption.

Section 205.930 Registration, Licensing and Adoption Fees.

The Animal Control Officer is hereby authorized to receive any registration, licensing and adoption fees and is required to keep accurate record of such receipts.
