There is hereby established a Police Reserve Unit of the City Police Department. The Police Reserve Unit and all personnel of such unit shall be under the supervisory control of the Chief of Police and shall be subject to the rules and regulations prescribed from time to time by the Chief of Police.

A. 
No person shall be eligible to be a member of the Police Reserve Unit of the City unless such person meets the following minimum requirements while serving as a member of the Police Reserve Unit:
1. 
Is a citizen of the United States.
2. 
Is twenty-one (21) years of age.
3. 
Is a graduate of an accredited high school or has received a certificate of equivalent education.
4. 
Is in good physical and mental condition and have a weight commensurate with height.
5. 
Is of good moral character.
6. 
Has no record of a felony conviction or conviction of any crime involving moral turpitude.
7. 
Is not an elected public official of any City, County, school district, water district, fire protection district, library district or ambulance district.
8. 
Possesses an honorable discharge from any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States if such member has been a member of the Armed Forces of the United States.
9. 
Possesses a valid Missouri motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
10. 
Does not possess a liquor license issued by the State for any establishment in the County.
11. 
Passes a thorough and continuing personal background examination conducted by or on behalf of the City.
12. 
Has successfully completed all Police training courses required by State law.
13. 
Shall not be a member of or employed by any Police agency or Department, Fire Department or Fire District, or civil defense unit; further, shall not be employed to function as a security guard or to perform watchman services within the corporate limits of the City. These restrictions shall also be applicable following appointment to the Police Reserve.

Members of the City Police Reserve Unit shall perform such duties as may be prescribed by the Chief of Police when members of the Police Reserve Unit are on duty at the assigned location. Such members shall possess all the powers and have all the duties of a regular commissioned Law Enforcement Officer of the City.

Subsequent to the completion of the minimum training requirements required by the laws of the State of Missouri, all members of the Police Reserve Unit shall wear a regulation uniform and related equipment, only when on duty or traveling to or from a duty assignment, as issued to such Police Reserve Unit members at the City's costs.

All disciplinary actions against any member of the Police Reserve Unit shall be conducted in the same manner as disciplinary actions against any City employee.

The Chief of Police of the City of St. Peters is hereby authorized to require additional Police training over the minimum training requirements of the State of Missouri, as a condition precedent to the commissioning of a member of the Police Reserve Unit.
