This Chapter shall be known as the "Susquehanna Township Zoning
Ordinance."
This Chapter is enacted and ordained under the grant of powers
by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Act 247
Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Act of 1968, P.L. 805,
No. 247 as reenacted and amended.
The provisions of this zoning ordinance shall be design for
the following purposes:
1. To promote the safety, health, and morals, and the general welfare;
coordinated and practical community development and proper density
of population; emergency management preparedness and operations, the
provisions of adequate light and air, access to incident solar energy,
police protection, vehicle parking and loading space, transportation,
water, sewerage, schools, recreational facilities, public grounds,
the provision of a safe, reliable and adequate water supply for domestic,
commercial, and industrial uses, and other public requirements; as
well as preservation of the natural, scenic and historic values in
the environment and preservation of forests, wetlands, and floodplains.
2. To prevent one or more of the following: overcrowding of land, blight,
danger and congestion in travel and transportation, loss of health,
life or property from fire, flood, panic, or other dangers.
3. To provide for the use of land for residential housing of various
dwelling types encompassing all basic forms of housing, including
single-family and two-family dwellings, a reasonable range of multifamily
dwellings in various arrangements, and mobile homes and mobile home
parks.
4. To accommodate reasonable overall community growth, including population
and employment growth, and opportunities for development of a variety
of residential dwelling types and nonresidential uses.
This Chapter is to render a legal basis and framework to the
future land use plan and development goals established in the Susquehanna
Township Comprehensive Plan. This Chapter is found to be in accordance
with the spirit and intent of the formally adopted Susquehanna Township
Comprehensive Plan 2000, as adopted and amended.

shall not apply to the uses, lands, and structures of the Township
of Susquehanna.
2. This chapter
shall not apply to the uses, lands, and structures of any municipal
authority created solely by the Township of Susquehanna.
