A. 
Any widow or minor child of a volunteer firefighter who dies as a result of injuries sustained in the course of performance of duty as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department shall receive a pension in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 43:12-28.1.
B. 
Should any question arise as to whether or not a volunteer firefighter died as a result of injuries sustained in the course of performance of duty as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, the Fire Department President and the Borough Council shall convene, hear evidence and make an appropriate determination.

If the governing body determines that any widow, children or parent of any deceased volunteer firefighter is entitled to receive a survivor's pension pursuant to this article, such survivor's pension shall be for a sum provided for in N.J.S.A. 43:12-28.1 et seq. The same pension benefit shall be available for any emergency medical technician, first aid worker or rescue squad worker who loses his/her life in the line of duty as set forth in N.J.S.A. 43:12-28.1.

The minor child of a deceased firefighter shall be determined to be a minor if under the age of 18 years, unless legally emancipated prior thereto.

The Borough Council shall make provisions in its annual budget for the payment of any pension under this article, and the same shall be paid in such manner as the Mayor and Borough Council shall determine.
