(a) The Narrows.
(1)
On the waters of Lake Macatawa known as the "Narrows," on that
portion bound to the west by longitudinal line 86° 10' 0.76"
W (-86.16688) and to the east by longitudinal line 86° 9'
16.110" W (-86.15447), within Park Township, County of Ottawa, State
of Michigan, it is unlawful for:
a.
The operator of a vessel 26 feet or more in length to exceed
a slow — no wake speed.
b.
The operator of a vessel less than 26 feet in length to exceed
a slow — no wake speed when within 200 feet of any shore, dock,
or pier head, and within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Township
of Park.
(2)
The longitudinal line 86° 10' 0.76" W (-86.16688) is
approximated by extending Old Orchard Road (City of Holland) north
to the northern shore.
(3)
The longitudinal line 86° 9' 16.110" W (-86.15447)
can be approximated by extending a line south from the navigational
aid, Point Superior Light 7, to the southern Township boundary.
(4)
The boundaries of the area described above shall be marked with
signs and/or with buoys and maintained by the Township. All buoys
must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of
Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway
Marking System. Buoys shall not be placed in a commercial shipping
channel.
(b) Macatawa Bay.
(1)
On the waters of Lake Macatawa, on that portion bound to the
west by the longitudinal line 86° 12' 57" W (-86.21583) and
bound to the east by a line starting at coordinate 42° 46'
29.856" N, 86° 11' 59.9634" W (42.77496, -86.19999) ending
at coordinate 42° 46' 18.4074" N, 86° 11' 42.792"
W (42.77178, -86.19522), Park Township, Ottawa County, it is unlawful
for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow — no wake speed.
(2)
Coordinate 86° 12' 57" W (-86.21583) can be referenced
as the westerly end of the entrance channel to Lake Macatawa from
Lake Michigan.
(3)
Coordinate 42° 46' 29.856" N, 86° 11' 59.9634"
W (42.77496, -86.19999) can be approximated as where the Black Lake
Boardwalk East Scenic Overlook meets the water's edge.
(4)
Coordinate 42° 46' 18.4074" N, 86° 11' 42.792"
W (42.77178, -86.19522) can be approximated as where Jenison Avenue
as extended meets the water's edge.
(5)
"Slow — no wake speed" means a very slow speed whereby
the wake or wash created by the vessel would be minimal.
(6)
The boundaries of the area described above shall be marked with
signs and/or with buoys and maintained by the Township. All buoys
must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of
Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway
Marking System. Buoys shall not be placed in a commercial shipping
channel.
(c) Pine Creek Bay.
(1)
On the waters of Pine Creek Bay, Lake Macatawa, lying north
of the latitudinal line 42° 47' 10" N (42.78611), Park Township,
Ottawa County, it shall be unlawful for the operator of any motorboat,
during the period from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. of the following day,
or from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. of the following day when daylight
saving time is in effect, to:
a.
Operate such motorboat at high speed, which is defined as a
speed at or above which a motorboat reaches a planing condition.
b.
Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person
on water skis, water sled, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.
(2)
The boundaries of the area described above shall be marked with
signs and/or with buoys and maintained by the Township. All buoys
must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of
Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway
Marking System. Buoys shall not be placed in a commercial shipping
channel.
(d) Big Bay.
(1)
On the waters of Lake Macatawa's "Big Bay," on that portion
being north and west of a line starting near Chippewa Point at coordinate
42° 47' 0.096" N, 86° 11' 11.0754" W (42.78336,
-86.18641), ending at coordinate 42° 47' 18.312" N, 86°
10' 37.02" W (42.78842, -86.17695), Park Township, Ottawa County,
it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow —
no wake speed.
(2)
"Slow — no wake speed" means a very slow speed whereby
the wake or wash created by the vessel would be minimal.
(3)
Coordinate 42° 47' 0.096", 86° 11' 11.0754"
(42.78336, -86.18641) can be approximated to where Chippewa Drive
as extended meets the water's edge.
(4)
Coordinate 42° 47' 18.312", 86° 10' 37.02"
(42.78842, -86.17695) can be approximated as where 160th Avenue as
extended meets the water's edge.
(5)
The boundaries of the area described above shall be marked with
signs and/or with buoys and maintained by the Township. All buoys
must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of
Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway
Marking System.
