There is hereby established under the authority of the Borough
Code a Police Advisory Board of the Borough of Lewistown.
The purpose of the Police Advisory Board is to establish a forum
for an effective liaison and communication between the Borough, the
Mayor, the Police Department and the community to promote efficient
and professional police services and to promote the general health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough of Lewistown by:
A. Advising and making recommendations to the Borough Council, the Mayor,
the Borough Manager and/or to the Chief of Police as to police protection
and services within the Borough;
B. Reviewing, advising and making recommendations as to Police Department
policies, procedures and programs;
C. Promoting public awareness of the Borough's police services
and programs;
D. Soliciting public input concerning the Borough's police services
and programs; and
E. Reviewing and making recommendations concerning such other matters
which may be referred to it by the Borough Council, the Mayor, the
Borough Manager and/or the Chief of Police.
The Police Advisory Board shall consist of seven members, who
shall be residents of and registered electors within the Borough of
Lewistown, who are citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and
who are at least 18 years of age.
Members of the Police Advisory Board shall serve without compensation.
Upon organization of the Police Advisory Board, the Board shall
appoint a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Assistant Secretary,
who shall serve at the pleasure of the membership of the Police Advisory
Board for a term of two years, or until their successors are appointed.
Meetings of the Police Advisory Board shall be subject to the
Sunshine Act, 65 Pa.C.S.A. § 701 et seq., as it may be amended
and revised, and any successor law. Meetings shall be held as necessary,
but no less than quarterly.
Public records of the Police Advisory Board shall be subject
to the Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. § 67.101 et seq., as it
may be amended and revised, and any successor law.
