A.Â
The appointive offices of Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough
Secretary) and Borough Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer)
may be held by the same individual or by different individuals.
B.Â
Council reserves the right from time to time to appoint the same
individual as Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough Secretary) and
Borough Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer) or to appoint one
individual as Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough Secretary) and
a different individual or a bank as Borough Treasurer (or Assistant
Borough Treasurer).
Neither the Mayor nor any Councilman shall be eligible to hold
the office of Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough Secretary) or
the office of Borough Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer).
An individual appointed as Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough
Secretary) or Borough Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer) or
a bank appointed as Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer) shall
serve for an indefinite term at the pleasure of Council and may be
removed by Council at any time, either for cause or for no cause.

Prior to assuming the duties of Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough
Secretary) or assuming the duties of Borough Treasurer (or Assistant
Borough Treasurer), the individual appointed to the office shall file
a position fidelity bond naming the Borough as obligee and in such
amount and guaranteed by such corporate surety company authorized
to act as a surety in Pennsylvania and to transact business in Pennsylvania
as Council may direct.
B.Â
The premium or other charge for the initial issuance of the bond,
and the premium or other charge for the periodic renewal of the bond,
shall be paid for by the Borough.
The salary, if any, and the benefits, if any, to be granted
the Borough Secretary (or Assistant Borough Secretary) or the Borough
Treasurer (or Assistant Borough Treasurer) shall be such as are fixed
from time to time by Council.
The duties and powers of the Borough Secretary (and the Assistant
Borough Secretary, if any) and the duties and powers of the Borough
Treasurer (and the Assistant Borough Treasurer, if any) shall be those
prescribed and granted by the Borough Code[1] and those assigned or granted from time to time by Council.
