Editor’s Note: Former Sections 200.010, Chief of Police
— Appointment — Qualifications, 200.020, Size of Police
Force — Powers, and 200.040, Police Training Required, were
removed at the request of the City. The City signed an agreement with
the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and with the Institute for
Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), dated 10-1-2016, whereby the
County and the Sheriff’s Office will provide law enforcement
services to the City. The IBTS will respond to City official and/or
citizen complaints in regards to City Code violations and report such
violations to the City Council and the Clay County Sheriff’s
Office liaison. The City Police Department has been dissolved, and
wherever “Police Department” appears in the Code, it shall
now refer to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The Board of Aldermen of the City may by ordinance enter into
a contract or agreement with any other political subdivision, for
the provision of Police services by one political subdivision to another
on request, as provided for in Section 70.815, RSMo. The terms "Police", "Policemen" and "Police
Department" as used herein shall refer to Law Enforcement
Officers of the contracting entity.
