Editor's Note: Pursuant to Art. 26, adopted 9-26-2018 ATM, the Town Code was amended to make all references in the Town Code gender neutral by deleting all instances of gender-specific pronouns and wording and replacing those instances with gender-neutral pronouns or wording, by deleting all instances of “Board of Selectmen” and replacing those instances with “Select Board,” and by deleting all instances of “Selectmen” and replacing those instances with “Select Board members.” These amendments to the Code were approved by the voters of the Town at a special election held 10-16-2018.
All bylaws of the Town heretofore in force, excepting the Bylaws for the Prevention of Fire and Preservation of Life, are hereby repealed, but this section shall not affect any act done, any right accrued, any penalty or liability accrued or any suit, prosecution, or proceeding heretofore taken or that shall be pending at the time the following bylaws take effect.
The penalty for any violation of these bylaws, when not otherwise provided for either by Town bylaw or General Laws, shall be the forfeiture and payment of a fine not exceeding $300, to be paid into the Town Treasury.
These bylaws may be amended at any Annual Town Meeting, provided an article for that purpose has been inserted in the Warrant for such meeting substantially stating the amendment proposed.
Any bylaw of the Town of Mansfield, or rule or regulation of its boards, commissions and committees, the violation of which is subject to a specific penalty, may, in the discretion of the "enforcing person," defined below, be enforced in accordance with the methods provided in MGL c. 40, § 21D.
"Enforcing person," as used in this article, shall mean any police officer or constable of the Town of Mansfield, with respect to any offense; Building Inspector, Board of Health Agent, Conservation Commission Agent, Animal Control Officer, Department of Public Works Superintendent, Fire Chief, or any agent of the above Town officials, each with respect to violations of bylaws or rules or regulations within their respective jurisdictions.

Each day on which any violation exists shall be deemed to be a separate offense.
