There is hereby established in the Borough of Wallington an
emergency squad, which shall be a duly incorporated nonprofit organization
under the laws of the State of New Jersey. There shall not be more
than 50 members in the Wallington Emergency Squad, who shall be 18
years of age or older and reside in the Borough or reside in a community
whose boundaries are adjacent to the Borough.
The Wallington Emergency Squad shall have officers which shall
consist of one Captain and three Lieutenants. They shall be elected
by the Emergency Squad members and shall serve terms of one year,
which office shall be from January 1 to December 31. They may serve
a total number of two successive terms in office. The Emergency Squad
members shall also elect a Secretary for a term of one year, without
limitation as to successive terms.
The Wallington Emergency Squad shall answer all requests for
medical assistance, transportation of the sick and injured, respond
to all rescue calls and general fire alarms.
The Emergency Squad shall file monthly reports with the Fire
Commissioner of all its activities, equipment requests, membership,
elections and shall file any other reports as requested by the Fire
Commissioner.
Any and all fees or charges imposed hereunder shall be payable
to the Borough of Wallington, and nothing herein shall be construed
as compensation to any member of the Emergency Squad or any other
volunteer rendering services for which a fee or charge is imposed
hereunder, all those persons being and remaining volunteers who individually
render such service without fee, compensation or other consideration
whatsoever.
