There shall be within the Department of Administration a Division of Inspections, the head of which shall be the Construction Code Official. His or her compensation shall be upon the terms and provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township. The Construction Code Official shall, prior to his or her appointment, have those qualifications required by law and shall demonstrate the ability to supervise and administer the functions of the office.
The Construction Official or his or her subordinates shall:
A. 
Consolidate and coordinate all regulatory inspections relating to any buildings or structures which are not vested in any other department or division.
B. 
Make all construction inspections authorized or required by general law or ordinance and administer the provisions of such laws and ordinances.
C. 
Issue construction permits and administer all laws and ordinances providing for such permits or approval.
D. 
Enforce penalties pursuant to the Penalty Enforcement Law of 1999, N.J.S.A. 2A:58-10 et seq.
E. 
Have those duties and responsibilities imposed under the Construction Official as provided for under Chapter 145 of the Code of the Township of Brick and other appropriate law.
