The Township of Jefferson, County of Butler, Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, does hereby adopt by reference thereto as the standard
for the governing of the Township of Jefferson, Butler County, Pennsylvania,
the BOCA Basic Fire Prevention Code, 1984, as amended, to be the law
within Jefferson Township from the effective date of this Part. Said
standards are hereby incorporated in this chapter by reference in
accordance with provisions of the Second Class Township Code, 53 P.S.
§ 6573.2, as amended, July 2, 1953, P.L. 354, with a copy
of said BOCA Basic Fire Prevention Code being on file with the Township
Secretary at the Township Municipal Building.

1. The provisions of the BOCA Fire Prevention Code of 1984, as amended,
shall apply to property and facilities owned or occupied by any municipal
or governmental body, such as but not limited to Township offices,
Township maintenance buildings, schools and school buildings.
2. The provisions of this Part shall apply to all new structures and
their occupancies, including buildings, structures, equipment, etc.,
and, except as otherwise specified, to existing structures and their
occupancies, including buildings, structures, equipment, etc., which
constitute a common hazard to life and to property by violations existing
and continuing violations of the provisions of this Part.

The provisions of this Part and the requirements of the BOCA
Basic Fire Prevention Code of 1984 shall be administered and enforced
by the Township Fire Marshal, who shall be appointed by the Township
Supervisors and who shall serve at their pleasure. The Township Fire
Marshal may designate one or more assistant Fire Marshals, who shall
have the same authority as the Fire Marshal upon the ratification
by the Township Supervisors of his appointment as an Assistant Fire
Marshal by the duly appointed Fire Marshal of the Township.

The Jefferson Township Fire Marshal or his designated assistant,
in the discharge of his duties, shall, upon proper identification,
have the authority to enter any building, structure or premises at
any reasonable time for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of
this Part.

It shall be unlawful for any person to violate this Part, to
permit or maintain a violation, to refuse to obey any provisions hereof
or to fail or refuse to abide by such provisions or regulations, except
as may be permitted by the Fire Marshal of Jefferson Township in writing.
