Upon adoption of an ordinance by the Board of Aldermen of the
City of New Melle that changes the zoning of any tract of land in
the City limits, the official map shall be changed to reflect the
new zoning. This map shall also show the ordinance number and date
of adoption of any zoning changes.
[Ord. No. 224 §§1 —
2(3.03), 10-19-2005]
The official Zoning Map shall be available to public inspection
at City Hall and the office of the City Engineer and shall be with
the revised ordinance the final authority as to the current zoning
status of any land, parcel, lot, district, use, building or structure
in the City.
[Ord. No. 224 §§1 —
2(3.04), 10-19-2005]
A. In
the event that the official Zoning Map becomes damaged, destroyed,
lost or difficult to interpret because of the nature or number of
changes made thereto, the Board of Aldermen may by ordinance adopt
a new official Zoning Map which shall supersede the prior official
Zoning Map. The new official Zoning Map may correct drafting or other
errors or omissions on the prior official Zoning Map, but no such
correction shall have the effect of amending the zoning ordinance
or the prior official Zoning Map.
B. The
new official Zoning Map shall be identified by the signature of the
Mayor attested by the City Clerk and bear the following words: "This
is to certify that this is the official Zoning Map referred to in
the zoning ordinance (Number 224) adopted on this map and replaces
and supersedes the previous official Zoning Map". Unless the prior
official Zoning Map has been lost or has been totally destroyed, the
prior map or any significant parts thereof remaining shall be preserved
together with all available records pertaining to its adoption or
amendment.

a highway, street, alley or easement shall be construed as following
such centerline.
2. A boundary indicated as approximately following a recorded lot line
or the line bounding a parcel shall be construed as following such
line.
3. A boundary indicated as approximately following the corporate boundary
line of a City, Village or Township shall be construed as following
such line.
4. A boundary indicated as following a railroad line shall be construed
as being midway between the main tracks.
5. A boundary indicated as following the centerline of a stream, river,
lake or other body of water shall be construed as following such centerline.
6. A distance not specifically indicated on the official Zoning Map
shall be determined by the scale of the map.
[Ord. No. 224 §§1 —
2(3.06), 10-19-2005]
The regulations established by this Chapter within each zoning
district shall be minimum regulations for promoting and protecting
the public health, safety and welfare and shall be uniform for each
land or building, dwellings and structure throughout each district.
Where there are practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship in
the way of carrying out the strict letter of the Chapter, the Board
of Adjustment shall have the power in passing upon appeals to vary
or modify any rules, regulations or provisions of the Chapter so long
as the intent and the purpose of this Chapter shall be observed, public
safety secured and substantial justice done.
[Ord. No. 224 §§1 —
2(3.07), 10-19-2005]
The provisions of this Chapter shall apply to all uses, structures,
improvements and alterations approved by the City after enactment

[Ord. No. 224 §§1 —
