A. Skateboards
may be operated upon the public streets and sidewalks not herein specified
as restricted within the Municipal Limits of the City as follows:
1. In a single file manner, in the proper lane of traffic but as close
to the curb as possible under existing circumstances.
2. Skateboards traveling on public streets shall observe all traffic
regulations of the City.
3. Skateboards in use on public streets during the period from one-half
(½) hour after sunset to one-half (½) hour before sunrise
shall be equipped with reflective tape outlining the edges of the
skateboard so as to be visible at night under normal atmospheric conditions
on straight, level, unlighted streets when viewed by a vehicle driver
under the lawful lower beams of vehicle headlights at two hundred
(200) feet.

A. No
person shall ride a skateboard at any time upon any street specified
in this Code as an emergency snow route.
B. No
person shall ride a skateboard at any time upon a sidewalk within
an area zoned commercial under the Zoning Ordinance of this City.

The parent or guardian of any child shall not authorize or knowingly
permit any such child to violate any of the provisions of this Chapter.

Operation of a skateboard in a manner complying with the provisions
of this Chapter shall not constitute a violation of any other provision
of the Maryville Municipal Code.

Each and every person violating any provision of Title III,
Traffic Code, shall be guilty of an ordinance violation and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed five
hundred dollars ($500.00) or be imprisoned in jail for not more than
three (3) months, or both such fine and imprisonment.
