The State traffic laws regulating the speed of vehicles shall
be applicable upon all streets within the City of Dardenne Prairie,
except that the City may declare and determine upon the basis of engineering
and traffic investigation that certain speed regulations shall be
applicable upon specified streets or in certain areas, in which event
it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed
in excess of any speed so declared when signs are in place giving
notice thereof, but no City ordinance shall regulate the speed of
vehicles upon controlled access highways of the City.

A. No
person shall operate a vehicle upon any street or highway within the
City limits of the City of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, at a speed
in excess of twenty-five (25) miles per hour, unless official signs
are posted designating another speed limit.
B. Nothing in this Section shall make the speeds prescribed herein lawful in a situation that requires a slower speed for safe operation and compliance with Section
355.160.

Unless another penalty is provided in this Title, it is a misdemeanor
for any person to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act
required in this Title and upon a finding or pleading of guilt to
any violation of this Title shall be punishable by a fine of up to
five hundred dollars ($500.00) and/ or imprisonment of up to ninety
(90) days in the County Jail, or both the fine and imprisonment; unless
otherwise prescribed by Section 79.470, RSMo.

A. Speed
limits are set according to standards established by the City of Dardenne
Prairie and these standards include consideration for pedestrian use,
traffic volume and congestion, traffic flow patterns and other criteria
necessary to make the roadways as safe as possible. These speed limits
may be lower in certain areas to provide for the safe passage of vehicles,
safer ingress and egress to the roadway and to assure safer areas
for pedestrians and bicycles to travel on or near the roadway.
B. For
the purposes of this Section, a special enforcement area shall be
defined as follows:
Any public or private street or roadway where the speed limit
has been established at twenty-five (25) miles per hour or less and/or
any posted school speed zone.
C. Conviction
of a violation of this Section is punishable by a fine up to five
hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment in the St. Charles County
Jail for a period up to ninety (90) days, or to both such fine and
imprisonment. In order to determine the fine, any person found guilty
of a moving motor vehicle violation is a special enforcement area
in the City of Dardenne Prairie shall be fined at a rate double the
standard fine for such moving motor violation.

Any person who is convicted or pleads guilty to a speeding violation
or passing/overtaking a vehicle in a work/construction zone when there
was any person present performing duties in the work/construction
zone and appropriate signs were posted stating "Warning: $250 fine
for speeding or passing in this work zone" shall be assessed a fine
of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) in addition to any other fine
assessed; except that any person assessed the two hundred fifty dollar
($250.00) fine shall not also be assessed a fine for any of the following
offenses in a construction or work zone: any moving violation or violation
of speeding, leaving the scene, careless and imprudent driving, operating
without a valid license, operating with a suspended or revoked license,
obtaining a license by misrepresentation, driving while intoxicated,
under the influence or BAC, any felony offense involving the use of
a vehicle or failure to maintain financial responsibility.
