[Ord. No. 201207 §1, 12-10-2012; Ord. No. 201929, 7-15-2019]
A. Consumers
are liable for all water registered by the water meter whether used,
wasted, or caused by leakage. If a meter is found to have stopped
registering, the meter will be replaced with a new meter and the water
bill will be estimated on the basis of the average charges for the
previous three (3) months (or other appropriate time period). A monthly
bill may be adjusted at the request of the consumer under the following
conditions:
1. The leak is the result of a break or rupture in a service line located
between the water meter and the end appliance or fixture. No adjustment
will be made for leaks in showers, faucets, stools, water softeners,
or other fixtures or appliances.
2. The leak must result in water usage (measured in gallons) of at least
twenty-five percent (25%) above the previous bill.
3. Repairs must be validated by submitting a plumber's receipt, material
receipt, or other documentation.
4. No more than two (2) such adjustments will be made in a twelve (12)
month period (from date of first (1st) adjustment).
5. Adjustment will be given on the sewer service only based on the items
listed above.
