The intent of this chapter is to implement the federal Sex Offender
Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) (Title I of Public Law 109-248)[1] and shall be interpreted liberally to comply with the
terms and conditions of SORNA, as presently written or hereafter amended.
The efforts of tribal law enforcement to protect the community, conduct
investigations, and apprehend those who commit sex offenses will be
enhanced by requiring sex offenders to follow the registration requirements
mandated by this chapter.
Sex offender registry. There is hereby established a sex offender
registry, which the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi tribal
police shall maintain and operate pursuant to the provisions of this
chapter, as amended.
Public sex offender registry website. There is hereby established
the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Public Sex Offender
Registry website, which the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi
tribal police shall maintain and operate pursuant to the provisions
of this chapter, as amended.
