The Fire Chief or the Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall determine the establishment of fire lanes on private property designated for public use and on public ways and report such determination to the City Council, which shall designate such lanes as fire lanes. The designation by the City Council shall never be held to make the City responsible for maintenance of or snow removal on such lanes, but the owner of such property shall continue to be responsible for the maintenance of and snow removal on such areas.
Upon designation of a fire lane pursuant to the provisions of this article, the Fire Chief shall give notice of such designation to the owner of such area, directing the owner to cause signs to be posted, at the expense of the owner, at designated locations, lettered "Fire Lane — No Parking Any Time." Such signs shall be standard size and printed in red and mounted in specific areas established by the Fire Chief. Official records of designation and location of fire lanes shall be kept in the office of the Fire Chief.
Each fire lane designated pursuant to this article shall be a distance of 12 feet from the curbing of a sidewalk in a shopping center, bowling establishment, theater, school, church or other designated location. Where no sidewalk or curbing exists, the distance shall be 18 feet from a building or such other distance as the situation may warrant.
It shall be unlawful for any person to obstruct or park or leave unattended any vehicle within any fire lane designated under the provisions of this article at any time.
Any vehicle which shall obstruct or is found parked or left unattended in fire lanes designated under the provisions of this article shall be removed under the provisions of Chapter 70, Traffic, § 70-315, of the City Code.
Fire lanes shall be established in the City as indicated in the following table:

Said fire lane shall also run from the same point previously described in this section in a westerly direction for 50 feet.

Bennie Costa Plaza
(1)
The west lane from Amity Street northerly for a distance of 221 feet to the north lane.
(2)
The north lane from the west lane easterly for a distance of 270 feet to the east lane.
(3)
The east lane from the north lane southerly for a distance of 234 feet to Amity Street.
B.M.C. Durfee High School
(1)
From Gate #1, the northmost entrance on Elsbree Street, to the track field entrance northeast of Building #1, being 24 feet wide and a distance of approximately 410 feet.
(2)
From Lane #1 at the Elsbree Street parking lot, including the entire entrance to the Luke Urban Auditorium to Lane #3 located on the southeast side of Building #1, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 550 feet.
(3)
From Lane #4 to the east main entrance to Building #3, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 350 feet.
(4)
From Gate #2, the south entrance on Elsbree Street, to the south entrance of Building #3, being 26 feet wide and a distance of approximately 710 feet.
(5)
From Lane #4 around the south side of Building #3 to Lane #6, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 620 feet.
(6)
From Gate #3 at Chestnut Street to the southeast side of Building #1 and the junction of Lane #5, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 450 feet, then continuing on the right side of the lane around the west main entrance and ending at the northeast corner of Building #1, being eight feet wide and a distance of approximately 300 feet.

The fire lane for parking lot #2 shall be the lane beginning at the southeast corner of lot and running in a northerly direction for a distance of 220 feet, then continuing in a westerly direction for a distance of 70 feet.
(2)
The fire lane for parking lot #3 shall be the lane beginning at the southeast corner of lot and running in a northerly direction for a distance of 240 feet, then continuing in a westerly direction for a distance of 70 feet.
(3)
The fire lane for parking lot #4 shall be the lane beginning at the southeast corner of lot and running in a northerly direction for a distance of 295 feet, then continuing in a westerly direction for a distance of 70 feet.

The fire lane for parking lot #5 shall be the lane beginning at the southeast corner of lot and running in a northerly direction for a distance of 285 feet, then continuing in a westerly direction for a distance of 70 feet.

The lane running from a point 312 feet north of Pleasant Street on the west side of Quequechan Street and running west for a distance of 63 feet.
Durfee Mill Site
(1)
From the Pleasant Street entrance on the west side of Durfee Mill Picker House #2 (such entrance being on the east side of Union Mill #2), then running south along the western perimeter of Durfee Mill Picker House #2, Durfee Mill Boiler House #2, and Durfee Mill Storage House #2, and continuing to the southwest corner of Durfee Mill Storage House #2, then turning west to intersect with the fire lane described in Subsection (2) of the Union Mill Site below.
(2)
From the Pleasant Street entrance opposite the center of Durfee Mill #2, running in a westerly oblique, to intersect with the fire lane described in Subsection (1) of this Durfee Mill Site section at the northwest corner of Durfee Mill Pickers House #2; from the same entrance, turning sharply east then running to the northeast corner of Durfee Mill #2, then turning west and running south along the eastern perimeter of Durfee Mill #2 to a point where Durfee Mill #2 is joined by Durfee Mill #5.

From the Pleasant Street entrance on the west side of Superior Cleaners and Durfee Mill #1, running directly south along the western perimeter of Durfee Mill #1 to a point where Durfee Mill #1 connects with Durfee Mill #5.

From the Pleasant Street entrances described in Subsections (2) and (3) of this Durfee Mill Site section, merging in an area behind the Durfee Mill office buildings and in front of Durfee Mill #5, such area to be used for turning around and staging of Fire Department apparatus.

Beginning at the northeast corner of the shopping complex, then running south to follow the curbing to the southeast corner of the complex, a fire lane of no less than 12 feet in width.
(2)
Any other areas so designated by the Chief of the Fire Department.
Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village

(a)
The fire lanes designated for Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village under the provisions of this article shall be nine nonconnected fire lanes around the horseshoes, described as follows:
(1)
The lane shall run from a point 150 feet east of Wall Street and run south on the south horseshoe for a distance of 240 feet.
(2)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(1) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section and around the curve in an easterly direction for 50 feet.
(3)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet and around the curve from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(2) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section in a northerly direction for 240 feet.
(4)
The lane shall run from a point 150 feet east of Wall Street and run north on the north horseshoe for a distance of 240 feet.
(5)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(4) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section and around the curve in an easterly direction for 50 feet.
(6)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet and around the curve from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(5) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section in a southerly direction for 240 feet.
(7)
The lane shall run from a point of 175 feet east of Wall Street and run east on Beauregard Street for a distance of 140 feet on the north and south sides.
(8)
The lane shall run from a point beginning on Beauregard Street at the intersection of Johnson Street and run east for a distance of 240 feet on the north side.
(9)
The lane shall run from a point beginning on Beauregard Street at the intersection of Johnson Street and run east for a distance of 45 feet on the south side.
(b)
As prescribed by 527 CMR 10.3(10)(a), fire lanes will be a minimum of 18 feet wide and will preclude parking on either side of the locations described in this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section.
Fordney Street Apartments
(1)
The south lane from Fordney Street westerly for a distance of 237 feet.
(2)
The north lane from Fordney Street westerly for a distance of 310 feet.
Flint Village Plaza, 933 Pleasant Street

The lane beginning at the southeast corner of the building and running in a northerly direction for 140 feet, turning and running in a westerly direction for 246 feet, turning and running in a northerly direction for 141 feet.
As prescribed by 527 CMR 10.3(10)(a), fire lanes will be a minimum of 18 feet in width.
Frank B. Oliveira Apartments
The lane on the east side of Beach Street northerly from the corner of William Street and Beach Street, crossing the driveway, and continuing to the end of the street, a distance of 180 feet.
Harbour Mall
(1)
Access roads/routes to the main shopping mall (with Bradlee's at the west end and K-Mart at the east end) and to the Stop & Shop (located at the southwest corner of the property), shall be considered fire lanes and have a clearance of a minimum of 18 feet at all times.
(2)
From the southwest corner of Bradlee's and running to the southeast corner of K-Mart, a fire lane no less than 12 feet wide from the curbing, with such fire lane continuing around the entire building with a width no less than 18 feet from the building's foundation.
(3)
Running around the perimeter of the Stop & Shop, a fire lane of no less than 12 feet in width on the north side and 18 feet on all other sides.
(4)
Running around the entire perimeter of the property boundaries, a fire lane of no less than 18 feet in width.
(5)
Any other areas as may be designated by the Chief of the Fire Department.
Heritage Heights

(1)
Beginning at a point running from Green Street running down the main entrance road in a westerly direction to the Management Office (Building 7) for a distance of 98 feet on the north side of the roadway and 78 feet on the south side of the roadway.
(2)
Beginning from Pine Street and running south at Lot 1 (Building 1) for a distance of 143 feet on the east side of the lot.
(3)
Beginning from Pine Street and running south at Lot 2 (Building 2) for a distance of 170 feet on the east side of the lot.
(4)
Beginning at a point at the end of the main roadway and running in a northerly direction at Lot 5 (Building 5) for a distance of 170 feet on the east side of the lot.

(1)
The north lane from the parking lot easterly for a distance of 150 feet to the east lane.
(2)
The east lane from the north lane southerly for a distance of 171 feet to the south lane.
(3)
The south lane from the east lane westerly for a distance of 141 feet to the parking lot.
Pleasant View
(1)
The lane (near Buildings 3 and 4) from Herman Street, southerly for a distance of 825 feet.
(2)
The lane (near Buildings 17 and 18) from Herman Street, southerly for a distance of 825 feet.
(3)
A lane 18 feet wide from Herman Street westerly for a distance of 800 feet to Gibbs Street. The lane shall include three recessed tenant parking areas. No parking is permitted on either side of the lane.
(4)
A lane 18 feet wide narrowing to 12 feet from Gibbs Street westerly for a distance of 525 feet to Kimball Street. No parking is permitted on either side of the lane.
Raymond D. Holmes Apartments
The lane forming a semicircle to and from Essex Street.
Riley Plaza
The lane running from the west side of the parking lot on Stevens Street westerly for a distance of 90 feet.
Shaw's Plaza, 4171 North Main Street

The lane beginning at the northwest corner of the building and running in a southerly direction to the end of the building, a distance of 738 feet.

The lane beginning in front of and on the south side of the building known as the "Inpatient Building" and continuing around the outside perimeter of the driveway circle 360 degrees for a distance of 254 feet.
Further, there shall be a fire lane in front of and on the west side of the building known as the "Ambulatory Building" beginning at a point 160 feet north of Stanley Street and running in a northerly direction a distance of 65 feet.
As prescribed by 527 CMR 10.3(10)(a), fire lanes will be a minimum of 18 feet in width.
St. Anne's Hospital

North Lot with access from South Main Street and Middle Street. The fire lane will run from the South Main Street entrance into the North Lot 125 feet parallel to the curb to the patient drop off, pick up and handicapped area which measures 48 feet. The fire lane will continue from that point an additional 38 feet to Middle Street.
(2)
Emergency Department Lot with access from Middle Street. The fire lane will run from the Middle Street entrance parallel with the rear of the North Addition/MRI Dock 106 feet; turn left, parallel with the South Addition 19 feet to the patient drop off, pick up and handicapped area which measures 40 feet and continue from that point an additional 19 feet parallel with the East Addition ending at the end of the curb at the Ambulance Bay.
Sunset Hill Housing Project
(1)
Swallow Lane from Charles Street to Pokross Street.
(2)
Blue Jay Lane from Charles Street to Pokross Street.

Watuppa Heights
The lane Buffinton Street (unaccepted street) from Rodman Street easterly for a distance of 400 feet and then southerly for a distance of 800 feet to Warren Street.
