There shall be an officer of the City to be known as the "Physician
for Veterans' Relief," who shall be a person duly licensed as a physician
under the laws of the commonwealth. He shall be appointed by the Mayor.
The Board of Health shall consist of three members appointed
pursuant to the Charter. One member shall be a physician. No member
thereof shall be a member of the City Council.
The Board of Health shall organize annually by the choice of
one of its members as chairperson. The Board may appoint a Clerk,
who shall not be a member thereof.
The members of the Board of Health shall serve without compensation
or salary.
The Board of Health may make rules and regulations for its own
government and for the government of its officers, agents and assistants,
and such other rules and regulations consistent with law as may be
necessary or proper for the execution of its duties, and may employ
necessary assistants and employees and define the duties of such assistants
and employees.
The Board of Health shall have and exercise all the powers and
duties under the General Laws and such other powers and duties as
are set out in this chapter, and may appoint an agent, deputy agent,
administrator and/or director to perform such duties, subject to the
direction and control of the Board, as the Board may assign to them,
and shall hold such further powers as are set out in MGL c. 111.

The Health and Human Services Division shall execute the administrative
policy of the Board of Health as administrative health agent. The
Health and Human Services Division shall be responsible for carrying
out operational policy of the Board of Health as defined in MGL c.
111.
The Board of Health may make reasonable health regulations,
which shall be published at least once in a newspaper published in
the City before going into effect.
Nothing contained in §
34-57 shall be construed to curtail the power of the Board of Health to take immediate action in cases of extreme emergency or in epidemics or widespread outbreaks of disease.
Except as otherwise provided in this division, the Board of
Health shall have control of the usual public health clinics such
as immunization, dental, venereal disease, tuberculosis and maternal
and child welfare clinics.

The Department of Facilities Maintenance, in its capacity as
superintendent of public buildings, shall perform all repairs upon
all City buildings used by the Board of Health and shall have in its
care and custody all such buildings. Any repairs, alterations or additions
to such buildings shall be performed in accordance with and subject
to the provisions of this Code and the general law.
All rules and regulations of the Board of Health and of any
previous board or commission to whose duties such Board has succeeded
as are now in effect shall continue to be in effect, unless specifically
revoked or altered or unless inconsistent with this article.
The Board of Health shall have control and jurisdiction over
the Earle E. Hussey Clinic, formerly called the "Earle E. Hussey Hospital,"
and all employees thereof, and shall have all of the powers, duties
and responsibilities formerly exercised by the Board of Hospital Trustees
over such hospital.

All recreational day camp licenses issued in the City shall expire on December 31 in the year of issue. The fee shall be as set forth in Chapter
A110, Fee Schedule, of the City Code.
