The offices to be filled by the voters shall be a Mayor, a Town
Council and a School Committee.
Subject to the provisions of Charter Sections 2-1, 2-3, 3-1,
4-1 and 4-3, any voter shall be eligible to hold any elective Town
office.
The biennial election for the election of Town officers and
for the determination of all other matters to be referred to voters
shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November
in each odd-numbered year.
The polls shall be opened for all elections at 7:00 a.m. in
the morning and shall remain open until 8:00 p.m. in the evening.
The term of office for all members of the Town Council shall
be for two years beginning on the first business day in January following
the election and continuing until their successors are qualified.
The term of office of the Mayor shall be for four years beginning
on the first business day in January following the election and continuing
until his or her successor is qualified. The term of office for the
School Committee members shall be for four years each beginning on
the first business day of January in the year following their election,
and until their successors have been qualified. The terms of office
shall be so arranged that three such terms are to be filled at each
biennial election.
All department heads and division directors of the Town of Weymouth
shall prepare annual reports of their activities and shall submit
these reports to the Mayor for inclusion in the annual report of the
Town, on or before such date as the Mayor may annually establish for
the filing of such reports.
