No person shall operate any motor vehicle longitudinally upon any sidewalk in the Borough; nor shall any person operate any motor vehicle upon or across any sidewalk except in order to gain access to or egress from a driveway or alley at a location where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed, shall have been properly cut down for the purpose. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $50 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 10 days.

A. 
The speed limit of 25 mph is hereby established on all Borough streets, with the exception of State Routes 209 and 309 and Owl Creek Road in the Borough of Tamaqua.
B. 
Any person who shall operate a vehicle or tractor at a speed in excess of that hereby established therefor upon any of the portions of streets herein specified shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.
A. 
At the following intersections, official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $5 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.
It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle or tractor to make a U-turn at any intersection within the Borough. A reversal of direction at any intersection, regardless of how accomplished, shall be considered a U-turn. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $10 and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.

D. 
Nothing in this section shall prohibit any person from driving an emergency vehicle on any of those streets or parts of streets, or from driving on any of those streets or parts of streets a truck or other commercial vehicle making local deliveries to or pickups from premises located along that street or part of a street.
E. 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be fined $100 and costs.

The Police Department is hereby authorized to designate as a "play highway," whenever it shall deem such action advisable and for whatever period of time directed by it, any portion of any street or alley in the Borough, whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted. No person shall operate any motor vehicle or tractor upon any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated, except in case of emergency, with special permission of the police officer in charge, who shall first clear such highway of all persons using such highway for the purpose for which it was set aside. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $10 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for any vehicle to enter the west side of Pine Street from the market located on the Genetti lot, between Pine and Railroad Streets, in said Borough. This driveway shall be marked by official signs designating it as an "Entrance" to the market from Pine Street only and not as an "Exit" from said market on the Genetti lot.
B. 
It shall be unlawful for any vehicle making an exit from the driveway on the premises of the Tamaqua Leased Housing building to turn left onto East Broad Street.

C. 
Penalty for violation. Any person who shall violate this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $2 or more than $10 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment of not more than five days.
