Provisions, Art. I)]
The Board of Trustees of the Village of New Hempstead finds
and declares it to be the public policy of the Village to prohibit
the posting and display of signs on public property in order to protect
the public health, comfort and welfare of the residents of the Village
and to prevent the physical appearance of the Village from becoming
aesthetically offensive.

It shall be unlawful for any person to post or display any sign
on or over any public property in the Village of New Hempstead.
This chapter shall not apply to:
A. Signs posted or erected pursuant to and in the discharge of any governmental
function or required by any law, ordinance or governmental regulation.
B. Temporary signs for garage sales to be held in the Village of New
Hempstead, provided that such signs contain only the address of the
seller and the date of the sale, are displayed only two days prior
to the sale and are removed two days after the sale.
