[Code 1961, § 1.05.01]
All persons appointed by the Council to hold office in the Town,
with the exception of the tax collector and the members of the Board
of tax review, shall before the commencement of their term of office,
or within 30 days thereafter, take the oath of office. Pursuant to
Section 7-105 of the General Statutes of the state, the tax collector
and the members of the Board of tax review shall take the oath of
office before the commencement of their term of office.
[Ord. No. 86-4, § 1, 3-3-1986]
Effective with the municipal election of 1987, no person shall
enter upon the duties of constable until the Town has secured for
that person a bond with surety payable to the Town on a form approved
by the Town attorney. Said bond shall be filed with the Town Clerk
in a penal sum recommended by the finance Director and approved by
the Council. Said bond shall be conditioned upon the faithful performance
of the constable's official duties. The failure of any person
elected as constable to qualify for such bond within 30 days after
the time for the commencement of the constable's term of office
shall render the office vacant and the vacancy shall be filled in
the manner provided in Connecticut General Statutes, Section 9-220,
as it may be amended.
[Ord. No. 06-02, § 1, 10-3-2006]
Any annual budget vote may be held on seven days advance notice
by publication and posting by the Town Clerk with the day of publication
being the first day such that the vote may be held on the eighth day
thereafter.
