The Airport Industrial District is established to utilize the
unique opportunities provided by the Harrisburg International Airport
operations for airport-related economic development. Its purpose is
to promote compatible and mutually supportive land development between
airport operations and public/private sector business activities,
as well as to enhance the Township and regional economic base.

1. A building may be erected or used and a lot may be used or occupied
for any of the following purposes:
A. Aircraft facilities, air passenger terminals and supporting passenger
and aircraft services including heliports, military facilities and
airport parking.
B. General aviation sales and services.
C. Corporate aircraft office, storage and service facilities.
D. Charter aircraft and pilot instruction facilities.
E. Motor vehicle rental services.
F. Airline catering businesses.
H. Eating and drinking places, not including drive-in service.
I. Public utility services and facilities.
J. Industrial, office, warehouse and distribution uses; provided, they
are directly related to the function and activities of the airport
or that such uses are highly dependent upon air passenger and/or air
freight transportation.
K. Rail and bus transportation facilities.
L. Accessory uses customarily incidental to permitted principal uses.
2. The above uses are permitted only on the condition that they are
not obnoxious or offensive by reason of the emission of odor, dust,
smoke, noise, gas, vibration, refuse matter, water-carried waste or
polluting to the environment.

Minimum lot area and width shall be determined on the basis
of providing for required setbacks, parking, loading and unloading
areas and coverage standards.

Each lot shall have front, side and rear yards of not less than
the depth and width indicated below:
A. Front yard depth: 20 feet.
B. Side yard width: 20 feet.
C. Rear yard depth: 20 feet.

Where required, buffer yards shall be provided in compliance with the standards set forth in §
27-2008F of this chapter.

No building, except for air traffic control buildings, shall
exceed 35 feet in height. No building or structure shall encroach
upon any applicable approach, transition, horizontal or conical zones
as established and regulated by this chapter.

Parking and loading/unloading facilities shall be in compliance with Part
24 of this chapter.

Signs shall be in compliance with Part
23 of this chapter.

Total coverage shall not exceed 70% of the lot area. Not less
than 30% shall be landscaped with a vegetative material, maintained
as open space.

Motor vehicle access shall be in compliance with Part
25 of this chapter.

Within a development site area, the minimum distance between
the outside face of buildings shall be not less than 40 feet.

All activities within this district shall require a statement describing the handling of such activities in compliance with the provisions of §
27-2012 of this chapter.
