The purpose of this position is to provide the Village of Bosque
Farms with supportive services to the library. The position functions
under the supervision of the Library Director.
The Library Aide II/Program Assistant:
A. Plans, organizes and implements activities of the library, which
include Story Hour and the summer reading program.
B. Performs basic keyboarding functions related to cataloging, correspondence,
overdue notices, and other library needs as directed by the Library
Director.
C. Provides general reference assistance to patrons of the library.
D. Will be required to maintain the operation of the library in the
absence of the Library Director.
E. Performs functions including filing, shelving of books, checking
books in and out.
F. Performs other duties as assigned.
The minimum requirements for the Library Aide II/Program Assistant
are:
A. Graduation from high school or equivalent.
B. Two years' experience in library routine and procedure.
C. Experience in providing children's services in a professional
setting.
D. Ability to operate a typewriter and computer; ability to type a minimum
of 40 words per minute.
E. Working knowledge of spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.
F. Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with staff,
volunteers and the public.
There will be six-month probationary period, at which time an
evaluation of job performance will be conducted and discussed with
the employee. At this time, the employee will either be made a permanent
employee, be allowed to continue on a probationary period, not to
exceed one year in total, or be terminated based on evaluation results.
