The procedure for runoff elections will no longer apply in the
Town of Newton, and the winning candidate will be determined in accordance
with N.J.S.A. 40:45-17, as same may be amended or replaced in the
future.
This article shall become effective upon the voters of the Town
of Newton voting on a binding referendum to seek their approval to
adopt this article providing for the elimination of holding runoff
elections.[1]
