Town officials who wish to consult with the Town Counsel must get approval of two members of the Selectboard. Approval to consult with the Counsel does not necessarily have to be requested at a formal Selectboard's meeting but may be requested by telephone.
[HISTORY: Adopted by the Selectboard of the Town of Whately 2-24-1982. Amendments noted where applicable.[1]]
Any proposed court action must be presented to the Selectboard at a formal Selectboard's meeting and must be approved by the Selectboard, in writing, prior to having the Town Counsel proceed with the matter.
The above applies to all departments, except the Board of Assessors.
Permission to consult with the Town Counsel that is given between meetings will be noted in the minutes of the following Selectboard's meeting.
